Detlef H. Mache was born 1960 in Kamen/Westfalia (Germany).
  His main areas of interest are Applied Mathematics and its applications as well as Constructive Approximation and special interests in education, art and culture.
 
1980 Examination (Abitur) at Ruhrgymnasium in Witten.
  It followed the compulsory military service at German Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg and Munich (ROA). From Wintersemester
1981/82 he studied Mathematics, Sport, Philosophy and Computer Sciences at the University of Dortmund, where he finished
1988 his "Diplom" in Mathematics (& Computer Sciences); Diploma thesis in Applied Mathematics - Approximation Theory.
1988 - 1991 Research Scientist at the Department of Mathematics, University of Dortmund.
1991 Doctor's degree (Dr. rer. nat) PhD in Mathematics, University of Dortmund.
1992 - 1998 Research Assistant (C1) at the Department of Mathematics, Dortmund.
1997 Habilitation (Dr. habil.) for qualifying as a University Lecturer (Venia Legendi) in Mathematics (University of Dortmund)
1997 Assistant Professor (C2) for Mathematics at the Institute of Applied Mathematics, Dortmund.
1998 Visiting Professor at the University of Witwatersrand, Center of Applicable Analysis, Johannesburg (South Africa).
1998 - 1999 Full University Professor (C4) for Applied Mathematics - Numerical Analysis (he took the function for the chair) at the University of Munich.
2000 - 2001 He took again the function for a chair for Applied Analysis (Numerical Mathematics) at the University of Duisburg.
